    (2/20) 13th Dec 16 - Well done to our Year 7 Spelling Bee champions. In 1st place: Lola Ibbotson, in 2nd place: Archie Jenkinson. You did a tremendous job along with everyone else who took part.

    (4/20) 05th Dec 16 - The Year 8 basketball team finished 2nd in their rural and North East Derbyshire tournament, and the Year 9 hockey teams finished 3rd and 4th in their rural and North East Derbyshire tournament. Nice work everyone!
  • Year 10 Mathematics Competition

    (5/20) 30th Nov 16 - Year 10 mathematicians took part in a maths competition at St Mary's on Wednesday 30th November. They competed against 20+ teams, in a variety of rounds combining mental and physical agility, and came 6th/7th. Well done!
  • Sporting Wins w/c 28th November

    (6/20) 28th Nov 16 - In football, Year 9 boys won 4-3 against Penistone School. Year 9 hockey team won against Lady Manners School. Year 11 netball team beat Silverdale School. Year 11 basketball team beat Frederick Gent School. Well done everyone!
  • Sporting Wins w/c 21st November

    (7/20) 21st Nov 16 - Congrats to our Year 9 futsal team who won their NED tournament this week. In table tennis, U13s came 2nd and U15/16s came 4th in Derbyshire Schools qualifier. And Year 10 boys beat Meadowhead School 7-0 in hockey.
  • £2714 raised for Children in Need

    (8/20) 21st Nov 16 - A massive well done to everyone who got involved with all the Children in Need fundraising activities around school last Friday. We raised a grand total of £2714.01!
  • Y13 wins Historical Association debate

    (9/20) 21st Nov 16 - Congratulations to Finn Ranson from Year 13 who has won the South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire Historical Association's Sixth Form debating competition during the week beginning 14th November, 2016.
  • £1600 raised at last non-uniform day

    (10/20) 21st Nov 16 - On the last non-uniform day (20th October), we raised a lot of money which will be donated to the following charities: £1000 to Sheffield Children's Hospital - Neuroscience ward; £600 to the Cathedral Archer Homeless charity in Sheffield.
  • Geography students sponsor a goat

    (11/20) 18th Nov 16 - Mrs Westley's Year 10 geography class sponsored a goat through Oxfam's Goat Aid scheme, helping families in less economically developed countries. The class put 80p in each, to raise £25 for the sponsorship, and named the goat Kenneth Whisky.

    (12/20) 14th Nov 16 - A great week for football! U16 girls won 5-1 against Westfield, Y9 boys won 9-0 against Rawmarsh, and Y11 boys won 3-2 against Wickersley. In badminton, KS3 boys became NED winners. U16 girls and boys A-team won in table tennis.
  • Y11 students perform as Vikings to Y4

    (13/20) 10th Nov 16 - Year 11 Performing Arts students researched and performed a play about Vikings for Year 4 children from Dronfield Juniors. Feedback is that everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves... and the time travel dance!
  • DHFS achieves Career Mark standard

    (14/20) 07th Nov 16 - Following an assessment earlier this year, we've been successfully recognised as meeting the Career Mark standard for Quality Careers Education and Guidance, with a provision that is considered exemplary across Derbyshire.
  • Sporting Wins w/c 7th November

    (15/20) 07th Nov 16 - Year 11 won NED KS4 badminton and table tennis competitions, and Year 7/8 girls won the Chesterfield FC tournament (progressing to the next round). Year 9 girls came 3rd in the Derbyshire U14 County netball tournament.
  • Term 1: Numeracy and Literacy Results

    (16/20) 07th Nov 16 - 1st place: Gosforth (30 house points), 2nd place: Buxton (20 house points), 3rd place: Spaven (10 house points). Well done everyone!
    And 1066 literacy and numeracy activities took place during term 1 – you're brilliant!
  • Sporting Wins w/c 31st October

    (17/20) 31st Oct 16 - In futsal, Year 7 boys finished 2nd and Year 10 boys finished 4th in the NED competition. Year 10 boys finished 2nd in the Midlands rugby tournament. Year 9/11 boys football teams won their games and progress to the next round of the National Cup.
  • Millie comes 4th in Freeski Finals

    (18/20) 15th Oct 16 - A massive well done to Millie Wilkinson (Year 10), who competed at the British Indoor Freeski Championships at Chill Factore in Manchester on 15th October. After battling her way through 4 gruelling head-to-head rounds, Millie placed 4th in the finals.
  • Students synthesise paracetamol

    (19/20) 14th Oct 16 - A Level students visited Sheffield University's chemistry department to synthesise their own paracetamol. Congratulations to A Dodds and T Grocutt who obtained the purest sample, and O Holmes, R Griffin, and K Tsang for synthesising the highest yield.
  • Future Chef 2017 - heat 1 winners

    (20/20) 07th Oct 16 - Congratulations to the 2 winners of the Future Chef competition; Leigh Speight and Jenifer Bawden. The 2nd heat will take place at Sheffield Hallam University on Wednesday 11th January. Best of luck in the next round!

    Services begin at 9:15am. Students to be registered in church. Returning to school by 10:30am.
